Healthy Casco Bay is Healthy Maine Partnership hosted in the City of Portland's Public Health Division, Health and Human Services Department. Healthy Casco Bay is funded with tobacco settlement dollars from the Fund for a Healthy Maine.
Healthy Casco Bay has its roots in Healthy Portland, which is the Healthy Maine Partnership that has served Portland for nearly ten years. In 2007, Healthy Portland Project Director Bethany Sanborn and Portland City Health Promotion Manager Tina Pettingill applied for and received funding to launch another HMP serving the communities north of Portland. In October of 2007, Project Director James Tasse was hired, and the fledgling Healthy Casco Bay HMP began operations.
We work with our partners to improve the health and well-being of folks who live and work from the shore to the woods in the Casco Bay region. We serve the towns of Cumberland, Chebeague Island, Falmouth, Freeport, Gray, Long Island, New Gloucester, North Yarmouth, Pownal, and Yarmouth. Healthy Casco Bay's mission is to reduce tobacco use, encourage physical activity, improve nutrition, and prevent substance abuse. We provide technical and financial support for community initiatives, and are a resource to any resident seeking to improve their personal health, or the health of their town. We welcome the opportunity to develop local ideas and programs!
